It starts with connection.

When it comes to climate action and protecting our families and our futures, it’s going to take a bit of both. Our default is to build the connective scaffolding so we can give together, learn together, and bring the change - together.

Earth Gives, a 501c3 nonprofit, seeks to build a connected community of Earth Givers – encouraging people like you to either get off the sidelines and into action, or take your stewardship of our special planet to the next level. We believe we can do that through and with the only sector that has been on the front lines of the many solutions necessary to protect our futures - climate, climate justice and environmental stewardship nonprofit sector.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
— African proverb

Our “together” is to connect you to this group of nonprofits with boots on the ground and boats in the ocean doing the work on our behalf. Why would this even be necessary, you ask?

Well, the environmental nonprofit community only receives 2% of all philanthropy. When it comes to climate justice, those nonprofits receive only .5%. It’s simply not enough to speed and scale the impact necessary for generation now, and future generations.

Consider what they do for use: they fight to keep toxic chemicals out of your food, advocate against plastic pollution, and protect our water sources. There are groups that are teaching kids STEM through marine ecosystem repair, composting or recycling systems. They’ll be our next scientists or engineers making breakthroughs possible. Then there are the “never off” protectors of wildlife – the teams that are behind the incredible pictures you “like” on social platforms, especially of those being rescued or returned to their habitats. Nonprofits are advancing regenerative agriculture, conserving land and sacred places because the are focused on our future, not a profit motive. They are crafting circular systems, protecting old growth forests, cleaning up the oceans from plastic because they see the critical needs necessary to exist in harmony with a healthy planet.

Our tools?

A proven platform of a giving day – the first US-wide single focus giving day that offers a “one stop” connected platform to help people discover groups they might like to invest in, engage with, and learn more from.

A belief in the power of connection. Solving for “disconnection” – we aspire to be the connective tissue of generosity and good action. We do this through our Community Commons and Power Hour programs, and in our everyday activity.

Knowledge. The power of inviting people in to learn, connect and deepen their understanding of issues comes through thoughtful language, use of powerful storytelling, and being willing to meet people at their start.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
